The Rock Drumming System is just one of the the drum lesson dvd products offered from Rail Road Media Inc. It’s the baby brother course to their flag ship product, The Drumming System.

I knew there wasn’t going to be any question about this product credibility or quality since I’d reviewed the Drumming System already, the only thing in question was what topics did this course cover and what teaching materials did they use.

Beginner to Advanced Drummers

Because the Rock Drumming System is designed to teach rock and roll drumming the course was able to offer material for beginner, intermediate and advanced drummers. This is a unique feature to this course since most drum lesson programs focus on beginner and intermediate players.

Course Materials

The lessons are divided up for beginner, intermediate and advanced players. For each level there is a DVD full of lessons and a workbook that accompanies them.

Focus on Playing

Even in the beginner lessons the focus is on teaching you techniques and patterns you can start using in your drumming right away. The beginner series of lessons alone teaches you over 100 patterns you can use right away.

The intermediate lessons cover fills and solos to take your drumming to the next level. In this series of lessons there are over 300 patterns you will master that can be injected into your playing as well.

By the time you make it to the advanced topics you’ll be well on your way to being a great rock drummer, but there are still 100+ more patterns and techniques for you to learn.

If you’ve read any of my other drum lesson reviews then you likely realize I am a huge fan of playing video and audio tracks. I feel they are the absolute best way for you to practice and master your new skills as well as build confidence on the drums.

The Rock Drumming System has 10 full length rock songs for you to practice and jam along with. All ten tracks are available on both the Play along DVD and Jam Along CD.

This feature alone is great and full of value to the beginner or intermediate drummer looking to build new skills.

Cons of the Rock Drumming System

One down fall to the Rock Drumming System is that it only teaches rock drumming. If you’re looking to be a well rounded drummer for a variety of styles you may be better off with the Learn and Master Drums course. How ever other then that the value this course offers is solid.

Conclusion

If you are looking to learn more about rock drumming how ever I can’t really say anything else bad about this program. The video quality is great, often using picture in picture and 4 way split screens to help illustrate a point.

The play along content is awesome and the lessons are quick and easy giving you actionable patterns you can learn and play.
